Levi Strauss Opens 151,000-SF Depot

HEBRON, KY-Levi Strauss & Co. recently opened a 151,000-square-foot depot located near the company’s distribution center here. The depot, located at 3720 Langley Dr., will receive products arriving to the distribution center and will give the company additional storage space.

The facility is replacing a third-party receiving facility the company has utilized for years and is meant to streamline the receiving and distribution process.

“The new depot deepens Levi Strauss & Co.’s commitment to the Hebron community and creates new jobs for the area,” says Robert Hanson, president of Levi Strauss Americas. “This grand opening is an occasion to celebrate our growth in Northern Kentucky and the strong partnership between LS&Co. and Workers United to provide union jobs in the region.”

The construction of the depot created 20 new jobs for the Northern Kentucky area. If things continue as planned the number of new jobs should double within two years at the facility when the depot begins function at its full capacity.

“This new facility means additional good-paying union jobs for Northern Kentucky,” says Bruce Raynor, president of Workers United, in a statement. “It also continues to build the long and productive relationship that Workers United and Levi Strauss & Co. have enjoyed for more than 30 years.”

The distribution center supplies product to 50 Levi’s Stores and 97 Levi’s and Dockers outlet stores across the country. The company, which is now present in more than 110 countries, has been located in the Hebron distribution facility since construction completed in May 1999.

As GlobeSt.com reported, in July Levi paid $73 million for the purchase of 73 stores, which were part of a bankruptcy proceeding.
