VICTORVILLE, CA-Ashley Furniture Industries Inc. has acquired a 39,200-square-foot former Wickes Furniture store on 2.3 acres along the 15 Freeway from Wells Fargo Trust for $4.2 million and plans to have it open for business in November after remodeling. The acquisition is the latest in a series of real estate deals this year for Ashley, which has also leased a 42,000-square-foot former Wickes store in Palmdale and acquired two industrial distribution buildings totaling 439,000 square feet in Colton.

The new Ashley store in Victorville is at 12704 Amargosa Rd., north of the Victor Valley Mall. The furniture manufacturer and retailer was represented in its acquisition of the property by Aaron Hodgdon, president of the Inland Empire-based Hodgdon Group, who also represented Ashley in its lease of the Palmdale location and in the Colton property purchase. In the Victorville purchase, Wells Fargo Trust was represented by Ted Bradach, a senior associate at Grubb & Ellis Co. in Riverside. The Hodgdon Group’s Hodgdon-Miank Construction division is the contractor for tenant improvements for the remodeling of the Victorville location and also for the tenant improvements at the Palmdale store.

The Ashley store in Palmdale is at the northeast corner of Avenue P and 10th Street West in the Sierra Commons shopping center, located across from the Antelope Valley Mall. The landlord, GRAE Ventures LLC of Los Angeles, was represented by Rick Edwards and Winston Lee of GRAE Ventures in the lease.

The Hodgdon Group has represented Arcadia, WI-based Ashley for the last 10 years on the development, purchase and leasing of more than two million square feet of industrial and manufacturing space. Hodgdon is the exclusive representative for the Ashley Furniture Home Stores for retail real estate.
