CHICAGO-Silliker, a provider of food safety and quality services, has signed a lease that will move its North American headquarters from the suburb of Homewood to downtown Chicago. The company will occupy 33,164 square feet at 111 E. Wacker Dr.

“We weren’t initially planning to move Downtown, but this particular space is situated perfectly for us,” Johannes Burlin, president of Silliker, says in a statement. “It’s impeccably built-out, and we were able to achieve aggressive pricing.”

Approximately 120 employees will make the move from the four-story property in Homewood to the new facility, where it will occupy only one floor. Robert Sevim, senior managing director for Studley, says the new floor plan “will support superior workflow.” Sevim represented Silliker in the transaction.

“The South Shore trains end right under the cluster of Illinois Center buildings in the East Loop, minimizing commutation challenges that can arise when a company makes a major move like this,” Sevim says. “In addition to the convenience of the train, the pedway offers amenities in the way of retail, restaurants and services that were not as readily available to the Silliker employees in their Homewood location.”

Parkway Properties, owner of 111 E. Wacker Dr., was represented by Jack McKinney and Brian Whiting of J.F. McKinney & Associates.

Silliker’s presence now includes 45 locations in 16 countries.
