Health IT Center Gets Stimulus Dollars

ORLANDO-The University of Central Florida's proposal netted $7.6 million from the federal government, according to the Orlando Business Journal.

ORLANDO-The University of Central Florida earned $7.6 million in federal stimulus for a health IT center. The university’s College Medicine and the Florida Health Care Coalition collaborated on the grant proposal. The IT center will help assist doctors with the implementation of techniques and technology.

The grant money comes from a pool of $267 million set aside by the government in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Twenty-eight other organizations received money for health IT, which follows on the path of the government’s push for electronic health records and advocates of health technological advances.
