HUNTERS POINT, NY-The first phase of the 30-acre Hunters Point South in Queens, which was allotted to construct 6000 affordable housing units, has attracted seven bidders. Douglaston Development and AvalonBay are some of the bidders revealed. About 60% of the units were allocated for families of four with salaries ranging from $63,000 to $130,000.

The buyers are competing for the first two of six parcels on the site with the condition to construct a 1,100-student school and a 1,000-unit housing complex. For the full story, go to New York Observer.
