WASHINGTON, DC-The US Commerce Department has reported that new home sales increased 6.6% in September 2010 from that of the previous month, but they were still 21.5% off from September 2009. New home sales in September 2010 were at an annual rate of 307,000.

The median price of new home sales in September 2010 was $223,800 and the average price stood at $257,500. Patrick Newport of HIS Global Insight expects a recovery in 2014. For the full story, go to The Detroit Free Press.
