NEW YORK CITY-Ackman-Ziff Real Estate Group LLC has brought in Marc Schulder as managing director. Most recently with Real Estate Capital Partners, Schulder has an extensive history of sourcing, underwriting, financing, and closing a wide variety of residential and commercial real estate investment transactions as an owner/operator and as a joint-venture equity investor, according to a release.
At Real Estate Capital Partners, a private equity firm also based in New York City, Schulder focused on multifamily and student housing development and acquisition projects across the US. “Marc is a great addition to our equity platform,” Simon Ziff, CEO of Ackman-Ziff, says in the release. “His active role as an equity principal brings a fresh perspective to our JV equity business, which will benefit our clients greatly.”
Judging by Ackman-Ziff’s recent Joint Venture Equity Survey, Schulder will be seeing plenty of activity on the JV equity front. The survey notes that the investor posture is “increasingly aggressive,” although investors are “frustrated by limited suitable opportunities.”
Further, the survey notes that investors are targeting primary markets but also migrating to non-primary ones. They’re also more accepting of property-level risk, and have a moderate to high tolerance for risk.
