CHANTILLY, VA—Fairfax County, VA planning staff has come out in support of the Peterson Cos. plan to bring Pennsylvania-based convenience store chain Wawa to its proposed Dulles Discovery South retail center here.
The development to be located east of Route 28 will include the 5,500-square-foot Wawa, a 4,900-square-foot Chick-fil-A, a 4,000-square-foot bank and a 12,000-square-foot Primrose daycare facility, according to the Washington Business Journal.
The Fairfax County Planning Commission has scheduled a hearing for June 25 and the Board of Supervisors could vote on the proposal on July 1. If the project secures the necessary municipal approvals, construction could begin shortly thereafter.
The 6.4-acre site is located near the 2.4-million-square-foot Dulles Discovery North and South secure office complexes, and just east of the Smithsonian Institution’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
