SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CA—Seven companies located in San Bernardino County have been awarded $3.65 million in California Competes Tax Credits for expanding and creating jobs in California. The awards will help these companies generate more than $79.31 million of total investment in the County and add 512 full-time employees.

“We have a great diversity of businesses in our region, and it’s exciting to provide support to these companies to help them grow,” explains San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors Chair James Ramos. “Our County is continuing to provide the right foundation that encourages greater business investment.”

WISErg Corp., a CCTC recipient located in Colton, is a great example of the advantages this program provides to growing firms, according to a prepared statement. WISErg uses patented bio-technology processes to convert landfill-bound food scraps into a highly productive liquid fertilizer. WISErg’s fertilizer is approved for use in organic crop production by the California Department of Food & Agriculture and the Organic Materials Review Institute.

“WISErg is excited to expand into San Bernardino County and be part of the organics management solution. We were very fortunate to partner with San Bernardino County Economic Development, the Economic Development Agency, and the GoBIZ group at the Governor’s office of Economic Development. These agencies have been invaluable in smoothing our entry to the California market and are just wonderful to work with,” says Deanna Seaman, regulatory affairs manager, WISErg Corp.

The County had facilitated a number of discussions and meetings with WISErg on a variety of programs that were available to assist their growth through the Workforce Development Department, Recycling Market Development Zone, and State programs such as CCTC

The California Competes Tax Credit was created by Governor Brown and is focused on helping businesses grow and stay in California.
