Omni Hotel Doubling Up

Turner Broadcasting's building and expansion plan will boost the Omni Hotel at CNN Center Downtown into the ranks of major convention hotels.

Turner took on complete ownership of the Omni Hotel in 1996. TBS purchased the remaining 25% equity of the entire Omni International complex from Cousins Properties. This August, Turner and Irving, TX-based Omni Hotels will own the hotel jointly. The partnership also plans a $6-million renovation of the existing tower to begin in 2001.
