Tougher Building Is the Prognosis for Portland Suburb

Following orders, the city is mulling tougher rules to further shield rivers and creeks.

The tougher standards would be in lock-step with the region-wide effort to protect Portland waterways. Metro, the regional government, has required cities to wrap their waterways with strips of largely undeveloped land. Pre-existing structures could stay, but the proposed rules would prohibit most future development.
