The small town of Fairburn, 18 miles southwest of the city, isn’t in the big-city development leagues but it knows a good investment when it sees one. The town sunk $312,000 into the renovation of the former local telephone exchange building as a business incubator. Now the investment is paying off.

All five of the commercial units in Fairburn Exchange were leased even before the building’s formal ribbon-cutting celebration. Spaces in the one-story building range from 500 sf to 750 sf. Rents are $275 to $400 per month.
