According to Terrence M. McDermott, NARÕs executive vice president, about 70,000 NAR members spend 50% or more of their time on commercial transactions. He says that GottliebÕs appointment is indicative of "NARÕs commitment to build our presence in the commercial brokerage sector."
GottliebÕs responsibilities will include the Realtors Commercial Alliance, a new initiative that brings together leading firms and associations to help provide a framework of collective leadership and direction in developing a unified voice for the commercial real estate industry.
She will also oversee Transact 2000. Now in its second year, Transact is a venue to benefit the commercial brokerage industry. McDermott says that about 80% of NARÕs government affairs agenda specifically benefits the commercial sector.
Gottlieb will also serve as liaison to NARÕs commercial affiliates: Society of Industrial & Office Realtors, the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute, Institute of Real Estate Management, Realtors Land Institute and Counselor of Real Estate.
Before joining SIOR, Gottlieb was a senior vice president and general counsel at Manekin LLC, a full service real estate development company based in Washington, D.C.
