De Anza Corp. wants to build the De Anza Harbor Resort, a project that would include the expansion of an existing golf course and sports field at the site as well as a new park. De Anza officials presented the project during a workshop of the San Diego Planning Commission.
However, the hotel couldn't be built for quite awhile. That's because a 500-unit mobile-home park currently occupies the land.
Several hundred residents of the mobile home park attended the planning commission's workshop and pleaded that their park be spared. However, a city law passed nearly two decades ago requires that the homes must be removed by November 2003.
