The spaces are part of an ongoing city plan to add more than5,000 newparking spaces over the next three years, according to theCentre CityDevelopment Corp. The Downtown area has plenty ofshoppers and workers, but parking is in short supply.

Another 500 spaces are scheduled to come on line inDecember--just in time forlast-minute holiday shopping--when aseven-story parking structure at SixthAvenue and Market isfinished.
