Locally based Maintenance Warehouse says it bought privately held N-E Thing Supply, but wouldn't disclose its price. Houston-based N-E Thing operates six warehouses that primarily cater to apartment owners.

Maintenance Warehouse services the multifamily market too, but most of its customers own office, retail, industrial or hotel projects. The company operates 15 distribution warehouses nationwide and is a subsidiary of home-improvement giant Home Depot.

No layoffs are expected to result from the purchase of N-E Thing, says Maintenance Warehouse President Larry Marmon. His company recently moved into a new, $14.3-million headquarters building in the San Diego suburb of Poway and opened new distribution centers in Phoenix and Florida.
