Fast-forward to the year 2000, and the Fort Lee, NJ-based Barrett Cos. is recalling that ambitious voyage with its under-construction Half Moon Harbor apartment complex in North Bergen. Phase one is nearing completion.

The two-phase project will consist of two 12-story brick buildings on a 10-acre site that protrudes the Hudson River, ironically forming an inlet known by boaters for its half-moon shape. The two buildings will contain 507 one- and two-bedroom apartments, equipped with a optical-fiber backbone and Verizon video and cable wiring. The Edgewater, NJ firm Cybul & Cybul is the project architect. Leasing is expected to begin this fall.
