The $16-million hotel will have 200 rooms and beconnected to the Reardon Center at 500 Minnesota Ave. There are noother hotels in downtown Kansas City.

"We have been trying to get this thing rolling since we builtthe civic center," Viseck say. "The name Hilton has been tossedaround for the hotel."

Ground for the new hotel should be broken the first of nextyear. The developer is Hotel LLC, which includes partners LandmarkHotel Co., MC Real Estate and the city. Plans for the civic centerinclude updating mechanicals and a new facade and interioraesthetics.
