One of the properties is the 93-year-old former lodge building at 7875 Leary Way. It is owned by the Elloitt family, and is currently occupied by an Alpine Hut sporting goods store. The family says it doesn't want to be involved because it would restrict who it could lease the building to in the future.
Other sites being considered for mandatory historic designation are: Anderson Park, the Redmoor Corp. Building, Brown's Garage, Justice White House, Stone House, Oddfellows Hall, Eagle Rim Clubhouse, Redmond Cemetery, Redmond Methodist Church, Redmond Bank/Brad Best Realty, Redmond Trading Company, Skjarstad's Shoe Shop/Town Shoe Service, Conrad Olson farmstead, Hutcheson homestead, Old Redmond Schoolhouse and Haida House.
Also, dozens of properties earlier identified as potential historic sites but not considered for mandatory induction are being given the opportunity to voluntarily participate in a new historic preservation program. As a carrot, the owners would get various incentives, from rehabilitation assistance to property tax relief.
