Dublin, CA-based Alconco Corp. has filed papers to place a lien on Tully's Coffee Corp. for the $150,000 it claims the company owes them. Alconco subcontracted work for Tully's 1,570-sf store at 201 Frank Ogawa Plaza, which opened May 15 as part of a revamped Downtown area. The company says it has already received $260,000 from Tully's for its work, but claims it is still owed the additional sum.
Tully's claims the contractor is charging for unauthorized work. Alconco company sources say that 32 of its subcontractors have gone unpaid and that it is prepared to file suit in the coming months. The Oakland location, which sports a $40,000 marble-and-granite floor among other amenities, is Tully's first in the East Bay.
