Houston's Housing Market Up 34% Over 1999

HOUSTON-More jobs, more residents and more homes have created a 34% increase in the city's housing market over the 1999 reporting period for August, says the CDS Market Research firm.

Local home builders have reported good sales and consumer confidence is high. Strong job growth in the Houston community and a continuation of low mortgage rates also have provided momentum for the housing market. The shortage of labor and materials that had dampened sales last year has been alleviated.
