When completed in a few years, the $200-million complex will have a 300-room Marriott hotel with a conference center; 850,000 sf of office space in four buildings, ranging in height from six stories to 12 stories; 272 units of mid-rise apartments; 150,000 sf of retail and restaurant space and a 1.4-acre pedestrian plaza.
The project's first phase will be a six-story, 150,000-sf office building and approximately 75,000 sf of retail space. The first phase, designed by Ambrose McEnany and House Architects of Houston, will be under construction in 2001 and be completed in second quarter 2002. The Town Square project will be a pedestrian-oriented, mixed-use development with multifamily units stacked atop street-level retail space.
The Atlanta-based hotel development firm, Stormont Trice Development Corp., has signed a preliminary agreement regarding the development of the Marriott Hotel. The Town Square will be built on a prime parcel adjacent to the First Colony Mall. The tract is one of the last remaining pieces of undeveloped land in First Colony, a 9,700-acre, master-planned community that has been developed by Sugarland Properties Inc. over the last 20 years.
