Veritas, a storage management software company based in Mountain View, CA, is currently leasing approximately 450,000-sf of space in Mountain View and Sunnyvale while it waits for its new 425,000-sf headquarters on Ellis Street, which it expects to be online in June 2001. The first phase of Veritas' McCarthy Ranch property, which can hold another one million sf of space, is slated for ground-breaking later this year or early next and completion in spring 2002.
Over the past two years, the Irvine Co. acquired 68 acres of McCarthy Ranch and is building just over one million sf of space for tenant Cisco Systems. The property was originally planned for a residential development, but plans were scrapped in May 1998 because the site was too close to a sludge pond.
