If the proposed expansion gets the final green light, Rockaway Townsquare will total 1.6 million, making it the second largest mall in the Garden State. Monmouth Mall in Eatontown, at 1.5 million sf, is currently in second place, trailing only the 1.9 million-sf Garden State Plaza in Paramus.
Besides the additional mall space, other current projects at the Rockaway Townsquare site include a 165-room Hilton Gardens Inn, a second unnamed hotel, and a freestanding retail building for Borders Books, Linens 'n Things and Old Navy.
