A report by staff, scheduled for consideration next week by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, warns that the county might have to fork over up to $470 million for new roadways to accommodate the crush of tourists and gamblers.
About the only thing that wouldn¹t be negatively impacted is the economy: the resorts are expected to create thousands of new jobs, millions in tax revenue and generate more business for surrounding enterprises.
A dozen local Indian tribes are planning to either expand or build new casinos in the county over the next two years. By far, San Diego County has the largest number of new Indian casino projects in the state.
