NJ Packages New Brownfields Redevelopment Initiative

TRENTON-State officials tie the innovative land-recycling effort to continued economic growth.

The New Jersey Brownfields Redevelopment Incentive Program, which ties together several existing initiatives, includes such goodies as state help in paying for site remediation, assistance in getting private developers involved with corporations that would utilize such sites, and other incentives. Developers may be able to recoup up to 75% of remediation costs with the various incentives.

Altogether, New Jersey is estimated to have about 10,000 sites that qualify as brownfields.
