Centex Materials is a subsidiary of Dallas-based Centex Construction Products and is a major supplier of ready-mix concrete in Central Texas. Centex Materials had purchased the Georgetown quarry in June 1999, with some improvements starting up the following December.
The $14-million project is expected to wrap up in summer 2001, increasing the plant's capacity to 1,000 tons per hour. Centex Materials also is planning to add a concrete plant to the site, which produces aggregates to the asphalt and concrete market of Williamson County and north Austin. Centex Materials will own nine concrete plants with the expansion.
