Dave Kindell, vice president of real estate for Grocery OutletInc., says the Kent store is the first of two or three that thechain plans to open in King County. Though Kindell wouldn't commenton the locations for those stores, he says that he is looking atpotential sites now and plans to open one or two others in thecounty during the first quarter of 2001.

Grocery Outlet, a privately-held company, currently operates 115stores in nine western states--including five Washington statestores located in Monroe, Everett, Bremerton, Moses Lake andSpokane. According to Kindell, the 25-year-old company is on trackto open five to eight stores a year and is constantly on thelookout for new locations.
