Lowe's Companies Inc. plans to open a store south of the highway in a shopping center proposed by San Diego developer Seabreeze Properties by the end of next year.
The Wilkesboro, N.C.-based chose a site west of Old Grove Road and east of Mission Avenue for warehouse store.
Lowe's is scheduled to make its grand entrance into San Diego County with a store in Mission Valley, scheduled to open in January. It will be in the Fenton Marketplace center off Friars Road, joining Costco and as anchors. The company is looking at sites in Santee and Vista, company officials say.
