"It's essentially a drainage ditch now. But, after we come in, we'll make it the centerpiece of Downtown," a spokesman tells GlobeSt.com. The company has proposed building a complex, consisting of one to three structures that are 25- to 30-stories high and complemented by a parking garage. The project cost, which also is being kept under wraps, will include a $5-million to $7-million investment to clean up a portion of an overgrown and littered creek that runs through the property.

Vignette officials are scheduled to go before the City Council Nov. 30 to present the site plan for approval. On Nov. 14, city planning commissioners voted unanimously to rezone the five-acre site of the company's proposed expansion at East Cesar Chavez Street.

Vignette Corp. employs 2,300 people at its world headquarters, located along Austin's MoPac Boulevard. The company also has offices in South America, Europe, Asia and Australia. The firm is a supplier of e-business applications to connect businesses with prospects and customers and assist businesses with transactions with suppliers.
