Officials at St. Rose put estimates of a total teardown and rebuild of its current inpatient care ward, which was built in 1962, between $60 and $90 million. And Eden officials say rebuilding the adult trauma unit -- one of a mere two in the county -- could cost as much as $150 million. Statewide, it will take an estimated $24 billion to bring hospitals into compliance with the retrofit law. Hospital officials have until the beginning of next year to assess their seismic safety and provide reports to the state.
