New construction for office space was valued at $971 million and office space renovation figures were just over $119 million. The only other category to go above the $100 million mark was the hotel industry, which is expected to garner about $144 million.
The study also showed that there are about 3,000 businesses operating downtown, employing nearly 90,000 people. Annual sales for downtown businesses totals $12 billion. The service industry and the government make up the largest sector of the workforce, with 43 and 16 percent, respectively.
