Furniture Mall Plans 200,000-SF Expansion

HICKORY, NC-Ikerd Enterprises, owner of the 35,000-sf Catawba Furniture Mall here, 50 miles northwest of Downtown Charlotte, plans a $7 million addition to its almost 100%-leased asset.

The 200,000-sf expansion will be the first of several planned additions that will add about 500,000 sf to the facility. Ikerd bought the 26-acre former Catawba Mall site in 1997 and reopened it as Catawba Furniture Mall the following spring. Ikerd also owns Atrium Furniture Mall in High Point, NC and Hickory's Gateway Conference Center.
