Brian Ek, a company spokesman, says, however, the company's restructuring program will have no impact on Priceline's workforce of approximately 400 at its corporate headquarters at 800 Connecticut Ave. Priceline.com, one of the higher profile dotcom operations in the US, thanks to advertisements featuring actor William Shatner, occupies approximately 130,000 sf of space at the 403,000 sf property.
Priceline.com reported on Dec. 7 that it plans to postpone indefinitely the development of business-to-business, term life insurance and cellular telephone service. In addition, the company noted that it has discontinued discussions with SOFTBANK E-COMMERCE Corp. to introduce Priceline.com's buyer driven e-commerce platform in Japan.
The company says it plans to focus on its core businesses centered around "Name Your Own Price" services on-line for airline tickets, hotel rooms, rental cars, home finance, long distance phone service and new cars.
