New figures suggest that the region has increased in populationsize by 5.6% since the 1990 census. The fastest-growing county isLivingston, growing 39.9% from a population of 115,645 to a currentestimated population of 161,843. The largest numerical gainer wasOakland County, which added 151,976 residents since 1990, ending upwith 1,235,568 people in 2000. Other county numbers were:
Macomb: 1990 - 717,400; 2000 - 777,515.
Monroe: 1990 - 133,600; 2000 - 148,983.
