Gardner Real Estate Co. recently purchased a 40-acre site, at Frye Road and Ellis Street in Chandler adjacent to the Chandler Fashion Center, for $4 million.
Gardner plans a mixed-use project on the site. Half of 40 acres is zoned for a 290-unit apartment complex with office suites. The second phase of the project, which is on the other half of the parcel, will have retail shops, restaurants and office space. The second phase will be developed as demand dictates, says Thomas Gardner, who heads of the venture.
Gardner is currently talking to apartment developers, hoping to form a partnership on the first phase.
Phoenix-based Westcor Development is under construction on the Chandler Fashion Center, at the southwest corner of the Loop 101 and Chandler Boulevard. The regional mall is scheduled to be ready for tenants by late 2001.
