Corner in Northwest Suburb Proving to be Magnet for Retailers, Shoppers

KILDEER, IL-Construction has begun on The Shops at Kildeer, a 175,000-sf shopping center in this suburb northwest of Chicago, with 58% of the space pre-leased. Developers Diversified Realty is building the shopping center at the northeast corner of Rand Road (U.S. Route 12) and Long Grove Road, across the street from its recently opened Deer Park Town Center.

Leases have been signed with Bed Bath & Beyond (35,000 sf), Circuit City (32,772 sf), Cost Plus (17,300 sf), Ulta 3 (11,200 sf) and The Avenue (5,000 square feet), according to Steve Trowbridge, development director for the project for Cleveland-based DDR. He adds negotiations are in the final stages with additional stages with a gourmet coffee shop and apparel store.
