Goldman Sachs Affiliate Completes $276-Mil Purchase of SGI Campus

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA-SGI, formerly known as Silicon Graphics Inc., has sold and leased back a portion of its corporate campus here in a two-phase deal that won't be complete until the end of 2001.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA-SGI, formerly known as Silicon Graphics, has sold a portion of its corporate real estate here to an affiliate of The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. for approximately $276 million. SGI immediately leased back the property as part of the deal, and will continue to occupy its current campus indefinitely. The first portion of the two-phase transaction was completed on Dec. 29, and resulted in initial net proceeds to SGI of $185 million. The balance of the transaction will be completed prior to Dec. 31, 2001.

SGI is a provider of high-performance computing, advanced graphics, and consulting services. Goldman Sachs is an investment banking and securities firm.
