The district, with the help of $7.23 million awarded by the state this week, expects to finish the school on Rockwood Road in time for the fall semester. The school has outgrown its current site off Highway 78, which is also severely impacted by traffic in the area.

The project is tapping into state hardship funding that is part of a more than $9 billion school construction bond measure passed two years ago. A housing development in the area is expected to double the school district's population by 2006.
