The city's Economic Development Office is building a Website with a database that provides basic information on commercial sites, including square footage; cost of rent; parking; distance to railroad, freeway and airport; or whether the property is in an enterprise or foreign trade zone. The site also links visitors to a business license list at the city, which allows them to determine what kind of businesses surround the area or where the closest suppliers are located.
"It's a great opportunity for the city to provide a one-stop shop, where companies from out of town can find information," says Tim Healy, senior associate in the Tucson office of CB Richard Ellis. "Anything that helps streamline the process of finding sites will help me out. Any broker would be able to sit at their desk and access a site and take a tour for their client."
The site, which has yet to be assigned an address, will begin with up to 7,000 industrial properties in the database. Office sites are expected to be added later in the year.
Once an Internet address is assigned, it will be listed on the city's website at: www.ci.tucson.az.us/oed.
