SAN JOSE-Boston Properties has purchased the Cristina Hall site in Downtown San Jose for $25 million in stock. The Boston-based REIT has plans to build three office towers on the 3.7-acre site on Almaden Boulevard, south of San Carlos Street. Sources close to the deal are declining to specify the cost of the project, Boston Properties’ first in the city. “A lot of money,” quips one company insider.

The three office towers, dubbed Plaza@Almaden, will be 16 to 17 stories tall, providing 840,000 sf of leasable space. Webcor Builders Inc. will begin on the project immediately, according to a statement announcing the project. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP is the architect.
