Owner of the site is another retailer, the Wawa convenience store chain, but it's way too big for Wawa to do anything with it. The old Shore Drive-In movie theater once occupied the site, but closed down a number of years ago as the drive-in genre faded into New Jersey history (they were invented here). Another big box retailer, Home Depot, took a close look at it a few years ago before opting for a site a few miles away in Neptune, NJ.

Wal-Mart is scheduled to sit down with the Wall Twp. planning board this coming Monday night (Jan. 29) to roll out its site plan. Approval is expected.
