The San Diego Workforce Partnership says the number is an improvement over last year, when 48% of firms polled said they intended to add more jobs, according to the partnership's annual Occupational Outlook Report.
During the seven-year period from 1998 to 2004, high-tech engineers and support personnel will enjoy the best job prospects in the county, with demand rising by well over 50%.
The federally funded partnership helps train high-tech workers a six career centers countywide. As usual, retail jobs are in the highest demand, but opportunities for software and mechanical engineers, among other high-tech occupations, will provide the best salaries, according to the survey.
