Spanish Rail Car Maker Taking Space at Changing McClellan Air Force Base

SACRAMENTO, CA-A Spanish company that makes rail cars is close to leasing space at McClellan Air Force Base, which is being redeveloped into McClellan Business Park by Sacramento County. Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles S.A. is expected to sign on for between 50,000 sf and 75,000 sf that it will to assemble cars for Sacramento’s next light-rail extension.

Details of the lease, which now goes to the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors for approval, was not immediately available. The McClellan Air Force Base closes this July and will be handed to Sacramento County at no cost. The base includes 3,100-acres of property with an airport, more than 10 million-sf of former military buildings and much of the base’s equipment.
