University of Minnesota Saves $500,000 With New Facilities Management System

MINNEAPOLIS-The University of Minnesota has saved $500,000 from anew facilities management system (FAMIS) from Prism Computer Corp. and expects additional savings. The university, whose Twin Cities campuses total 20 million sf, was able to save $125,000 by using a central system for planning preventive maintenance work orders.

The Irvine, CA-based software developer’s system also provided the necessary flexibility to make “dramatic improvements in our business processes,” said Cheryl Coryea, chief financial officer for facilities at the University of Minnesota.
