Metro Airport Unveils Final Link to Midfield Terminal

DETROIT-The 10-year, $144-million final phase of south access road connects the old terminal with the new $1.2-billion, 97-gate Midfield Terminal being built for Northwest Airlines. Motorists will have access to two interstates.

The four-mile-long, six-lane roadway runs north from I-275 and Eureka Road right up to the 2-million-sf Midfield Terminal. When completed, the road will allow motorists to access the airport from two major interstate freeways -- I-94 and I-275. The link will definitely benefit the office and industrial development that is booming along the I-275 corridor, McNamara said.
