HILLSBORO-Intel filed for design approval late last week for a 440,000-sf industrial building on it hopes to have operational by 2002. Development approvals are expected in the next six weeks. The $80 million “manufacturing support” building, to be located on the company’s Ronler Acres campus here, is a prelude to a multi-billion-dollar chip plant that will be built on the campus by 2005.

The work stoppage included infrastructure work for its $400 million West Union R&D campus on 92 acres near Highway 26 and Cornelius Pass Road the chipmaker has agreed to purchase from Westmark Properties. The first or four buildings were scheduled to open late next year.
