Now, the Charles Klatskin Co., a commercial brokerage firm, based here, which has dominated the industrial market in the northern part of New Jersey for years, has signed on to the network. The partnership will be known as Binswanger/Klatskin, and it will be based here while maintaining a second office in Edison, NJ.
"Commercial real estate firms have to be able to provide a national and international reach," Charles Klatskin, chairman/CEO of Binswanger/Klatskin tells GlobeSt.com. "This new joint venture will provide us with a unique platform in this marketplace."
"This new venture will preserve the culture of each organization," adds Anthony Scaro, COO of the partnership, who held a similar position with Charles Klatskin Co. "We considered several alternative offers to merge with other firms, but we felt that this was the best opportunity."
While the Charles Klatskin Co. has covered most of the commercial real estate bases, its forte has long been considered to be the industrial sector. Indeed, Klatskin is considered to be a major development brokerage force in New Jersey's Meadowlands region. So, it's no surprise that the combined Binswanger/Klatskin went out into the market to grab Joel Lubin and Charles Fern, top industrial real estate specialists with Weichert Commercial, naming them executive vice presidents of the merged entity. Both will work out of the Edison office.
At the same time, David Knee has come over from the Binswanger side. He will work out of the entity's Teterboro office with the title of executive vice president. According to Knee, the merged operation is "a terrific growth opportunity. We feel it will offer an unusual combination of entrepreneurial freedom and global resources."
Besides brokerage services, the organization will continue to offer engineering, construction and related real estate expertise. To Klatskin's New Jersey list of clients, Binswanger brings a client roster that includes names like Motorola, Shell, Comcast, Bristol Myers-Squibb and Schering-Plough. Binswanger's own domestic market reach now includes Los Angeles, Chicago and Tampa.
