CHARLOTTE-With its $145-million, 700-room convention center hotel now under way, Portman Holdings is concentrating on finding a tenant for an adjacent pad that could accommodate 265,000 sf of office space. “The office was not our primary focus in terms of this project and the office pad is just now becoming a very important focus for us,” Russ LaGrone, chief financial officer, Portman Holdings, tells GlobeSt.com.

Warren Snipes, who is handling leasing, says there should be no lack of tenant interest for several reasons. The popular Downtown office market has a vacancy rate of only 3.1%.

“We also have great access off the inner loop highway system around Charlotte and we’re only four blocks from the heart of the city,” he says.
