Northwest Airlines Awards New Terminal Contract to Michigan Furniture Company

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI-Northwest Airlines recently awarded University Business Interiors, headquartered here, a contract to supply all of the furniture, with the exception of gate seating, at the new terminal in Detroit. University will supply and install office furniture, outdoor seating, auditorium seating, free standing desks, work stations, tables, garbage receptacles and passenger stanchions for the new terminal, which is scheduled to open in December. The company will also furnish the Northwest WorldKids Club.

“These furnishings will provide comfort and utility for our customers and employees while contributing to the modern, world-class design that will distinguish the new terminal,” says Jim Greenwald, Northwest vice president of facilities and airport affairs.

About half of the furniture in the $3 million contract will be of the Premise line from Haworth, Inc., a Holland, MI-based designer, manufacturer and marketer of office furniture. University will supply and install the remaining items of the order from otherspecialty vendors.
